Sustainable agriculture and food security
Climate-smart farming, soil conservation and water-efficient practices for smallholder farmers.
Smallholder farmers carry the cost of degraded soil and unreliable rain first, and have the least room to absorb it.
ACEPS training covers climate-smart practice, soil conservation, sustainable land management and rainwater harvesting, focused on the staple crops farmers in the region actually grow, among them cassava, vegetables and maize. The strand also connects farmers to researchers and agricultural institutions, so that what is learned in the field travels in both directions.
